Kick-off the Holiday Season this weekend with the Holiday Market and Historic Lantern Walking Tour on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Get a head start on holiday shopping with unique gifts you will not find anywhere else. The Penn House will host our annual Holiday Market boasting creative gifts from local artisans including pottery, wooden & fiber art, custom jewelry, and wreaths. You can even get a head start on holiday cooking with a delicious selection of baked goods, herbs, jams, jellies and more.
A selection of seasonal music will be provided by Veronica Jones to set the mood and get you in the Christmas spirit as you browse the market and enjoy the holiday decorations of historic Penn House. The market is open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
After the market you have a full hour to enjoy the Open House at Eclectic Visions Art Co Open House, 2-7 p.m. Eclectic is Reidsville’s new downtown art gallery featuring local artists including the Rockingham County Arts Council! During the Open House RCArts Youth Arts Council members will be creating original Christmas ornaments and 10% of all sales during the Open House will be donated to RCArts. Bring a non perishable food item to the event to be entered into a door prize drawing. (Food items will be distributed locally.)
Once you’ve checked your gift list twice and satisfied your sweet tooth, head over to Mural Park to join the Reidsville Historic Preservation Commission in its first ever Historic Lantern Walking Tour. The tour begins at 5 p.m. and will feature several stops in the downtown area. Your tour guide will give you a glimpse of Reidsville in the 19th century. You will learn about the history of Reidsville and the businesses and people that make living here so special. You may be surprised at what Reidsville was really like in the 1800s and early 1990s! The tour will end at Reidsville City Hall with a viewing of the Samstag Mural in that facility and some light refreshments.
After the tour, fill your bellies at one of our delectable downtown restaurants. Try a nice cider at Celtic Fringe or warm up with a hot bowl of Brunswick Stew from Short Sugars.
Sophisticated Soul will be serving Saturday brunch from 10am-3pm and also hosting a Karaoke Night from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
It’s a great weekend to be in Reidsville, so invite some friends and come enjoy the holiday events.
